‘Why do wedding flowers cost so much?’

I want to give you an insight on wedding flowers and why you may be thinking  ‘why do wedding flowers cost so much?’ 

There’s so much more that goes into it than most people think! Here’s what goes into your wedding quote:

  • Early starts and VERY long hours

  • The cost and time of keeping flowers fresh, some flowers need to be kept cool while others like warmer temperatures. Clean water and sleepness nights as we want the flowers to be at their optimal and looking perfect! We want all the flowers to be looking their best, and if they are not we need to make another order which is more cost and extra freight charges to us.

  • Days of prepping, cutting, snipping and spraying flowers 

  • The time taken to design and create arrangements 

  • Time travelling to and from ceremony and reception venues 

  • Time installing and setting up flowers at the venue

  • Travel to the bridal party to deliver bouquets 

  • Delivery to the groomsmen for their boutonnières 

  • Pulling a team together to make it all happen and there is no such thing as weekend rates!! 

This doesn’t account for the time taken discussing the wedding vision with the bride, the time taken to produce quotes, researching what flowers are in season and available, negotiating with the flower market and growers on availability and pricing. 

And yes we do need to make a little margin too, as much as we LOVE what we do and wish to make your wedding as beautiful as possible, we do need to make money just like any other employee. 

Bridal flowers may also come across expensive as I think brides underestimate exactly how many flowers are in a bouquet ~ this isn’t a shop bought bunch, this is a bouquet that has been created properly which has taken a lot of time and creativity. 

By the time your wedding bouquet is in your hands as you now know it has had so much time and thought put into it. 

To make sure we are all on the same page and to save a lot of time, effort and disappointment  ~ be honest with your budget if you have one from the get-go. And if you are unsure of what your flower budget is, simply ask what can I get for x amount, or on average how much is a bouquet for this kind of style.
